Les voyageurs qui maîtrisent le temps du voyage procèdent - en général - de la manière suivante : ils perçoivent l'espace-temps comme une abstraction matérielle, certains le voient, d'autres le sentent ou l'entendent. Ils isolent deux unités de cette "matière", deux "instants", deux "ici/maintenant", et introduisent entre elles une boucle de temps chimérique.
Le temps de Kiméria est malléable. Il ne possède pas de loi propre qui le régisse, au contraire du temps d'Erel qui s'écoule naturellement de façon linéaire.
Mais cet exercice qui consiste à intercaler un temps cyclique dans un interstice de temps linéaire est périlleux. Il demande une capacité de dédoublement de la conscience et de l'attention. En permanence, le voyageur doit se souvenir de son existence terrestre. Le cas échéant, il se retrouve prisonnier de sa boucle temporelle chimérique.
